Migrating a Linux server to VMware

Planning to migrate a Linux server running RHEL 6 to a VMhost running ESXI 5.5.
I've only migrated Windows machines in the past with the vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.

Is the process similar with Linux machines?
What is different about the process that I should be careful with?

You can install RHEL6 in a machine and move application by application.
Only thing to consider is udev device naming - converter changes MAC of network cards and eth0+eth1 become eth2+eth3 after migration
you have to delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent* files to get old names back.
