I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Lenovo is a pretty solid machine. I have used refurbished machines with no issues. Are you getting the laptop from Lenovo?

Good machine. If Lenovo is refurbishing it - good and they will provide a warranty.

All good and for you, 320 GB hard drive is fine.

What is the price?

the weakness is Hard Disk 320 GB, the best size for Windows partition is about 150 GB to be relax,  and you will have only 170 GB for all your data ( movies, videos, music, ...)

And I never buy a refurbished laptop. I don't like to buy someone else's problems and make it my problem.
but if the price is okay and you want to buy it, then ask for an extended warranty.

IT Pros Agree: AI and Machine Learning Key

We’d all like to think our company’s data is well protected, but when you ask IT professionals they admit the data probably is not as safe as it could be.

JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
No. For these machines, use ONE partition and all is well. I do not partition hard drives any more. No real need.

As John said one partition is fine. At IBM our Lenovo's have one partition. We have no issues here.

And with Windows 10 you can Repair Install in place with no issues

It does not say who refurbished it. (?)
No warranty seen.
Only to be used for travel and no travel dates in site.

Ask Walmart about warranty and also look at the Lenovo site.

If they give you a warranty then it is a good laptop.

"This laptop was refurbished by US Micro"   Probably OK, as far as I know they are a certified Lenovo dealer.

"his allows us to stand behind our products with a 1 year limited warranty (see warranty section for complete details) and a 30 day money back guarantee"   So it is guaranteed

" free 30 day trial of Microsoft Office 365 (Office 2016)"   This may be worth your while for Windows 10.

So it continues to look decent.

it looks a good bargain test it during the first month thoroughly
check how long it runs on the battery
if it is a bit slow (as i expect it to be)  - install an SSD

Thanks and good luck if you need a newer machine.

Well.................would you even consider to spend $149 to get a new motherboard (for my existing laptop 8891) that has a newer Nvidia chip.
The refurbished is only $76 more.......with Intel graphics.

If the board is compatible and will work, I would consider it. I paid that much to put new hinges in that very machine.

It is compatible and sold by Lenovo.
Knowing that I will need high graphics and ram (the 8 is plenty) for the program I'll be using on it.
I'll have to open it up and see if I can change it out myself.

There is a hardware maintenance manual for that machine. I have opened it and replaced / added memory and the wireless NIC.

If you work carefully it comes apart ok.
