"Ensure their internet protocol supports SHA-2 certificate" ??
This is a letter a payments processing company has sent to a small restaurant which is asking for my help in understanding what it means.
The wording seems off to me -- I'm thinking they mean make sure all devices on site are compatible with SHA-2 certificates?
Shouldn't have anything to with the internet protocol?
This is a list of the devices they have on site:
ISP router
ASA router
Server 2008 R2 functioning as DHCP
POS terminals
POS software
I'm thinking the servers and routers should already be compliant though is there a way I can verify that?
Other than that, the POS systems are something the vendors of those systems would have to check, right?

Not the hardware but the software if it is communicating over the Internet. Check with the software suppliers.

All they are asking for is to make sure the software running for this business is compliant? The wording is a bit odd.

It is a reference to your SSL certificates. Make sure that they are SHA-2. As already pointed out the wording was horrible and probably written by someone who didn't really understand what they were writing about... or really got butchered in translation.

Ok, makes sense. Thanks for your help.
