Remote Desktop Stopped Functioning

Hello, we have a 2008 server that was setup with RDP for years with no issues.  All of a sudden yesterday this stopped functioning. The username/password box comes up to login and then we get a Remote Desktop Disconnected error box that only tells us "This computer can't connect to the remote computer."  Nothing has changed in the environment and I have reviewed all the settings and found nothing amiss.  I have also rebooted the server several times.  The server can ping the system trying to RDP and that system can ping the server.  Any ideas?

Do you have multiple NICs in the server?

This is usually caused by the system randomly selecting the wrong NIC!

If so, solution:

+ Logon to the server locally
+ Click Start, Run, type "tscc.msc /s" (without quotation marks) and click OK
+ In the Terminal Services Configuration snap-in double-click Connections, then RDP-Tcp in the right pane
+ Click the Network Adapter tab, select the correct network adapter and click OK
+ Make sure that you can establish an RDP connection to the server
+ The change takes effect immediately. No need for a restart.
