what is mstp

what is mstp? can it be use as VPN protocol.
what is the difference between mstp and mpls.

MSTP is IEEE defined network protocol that provides loop free topology (more recent and advanced version of spanning-tree protocol).
Can't be used for anything else except providing loop free topology.
Similarity between MSTP and MPLS ends with having letters M S P in their names (that is similarity and the rest is different).

what is loop free topology, what is it use for
