MSTP is IEEE defined network protocol that provides loop free topology (more recent and advanced version of spanning-tree protocol).
Can't be used for anything else except providing loop free topology.
Similarity between MSTP and MPLS ends with having letters M S P in their names (that is similarity and the rest is different).

Loop free topology - means that you do not have layer 2 network loops in your network.
