Bruel & Kjaer's Predictor software running on Windows 10 loses license files
We have a few machines on Windows 10 that inexplicably lose the 5-8 license files that inform Predictor that is it a legit copy (along with a USB dongle). It won't recognize the dongle without the license files in place. They are simply disappearing from these machines. They are not quarantined by the AV software nor are they found in the recycle bin on the affected machines.
Any chance the dongle or the software is not Windows 10 compliant? That would cause your issue.

Unknown. They are so ridiculously expensive - $10-15K!!! - that we can't just replace them. B&K is a very pricey niche product. They haven't answered my support question either - I think they acquired the software publisher and it they who do the actual support. But thank you for that thought. That may indeed be the case. At least it's a direction we can pursue.

Windows 10 does not delete files on its own. However McKnife's suggestion sounds like a good one
Can you try uninstalling the software, restarting and then installing it again.

I just heard back from someone at B&K who had reported this to the original publisher, Softnoise, who had this to say...
"We do have 1 customer who experienced the same effect. We suggested to first save the license files on the desktop, so not in the program folder. And then copy the license files from the desktop to the program folder. The customer was not sure if he followed this advice exactly but suddenly it worked again. He did remember to try some alternative ways to install the license files."
We currently copy them down form a server share that houses our software repository so I'm not sure why it would work this way as opposed to where we copy them from.
