How to reset an iPad without apple id

Need to reset an Apple iPad2 to factory settings.  Current apple id on device; however, passcode is unkown.  Unable to contact owner of apple id on device.

You will have to take it to an Apple Store, prove identity and see if they can reset it to factory specs.

Currently Apple needs our apple id to do a normal reset (had that done for repair purposes).

I agree with John.  With the information you provided about your situation, taking it to the Apple store is most likely you're only option.
