SSL CSR question

I have a website www.mycompany.com   hosted at myhostingprovider.com

I have a RDS gateway at remote.mycompany.com pointing to my network

The ssl cert has expired and I have had it renewed with networksolutions
to generate the cert i need to have a csr ..
Do i get that from the web hosting firm or from the server in-house ..
The docs say :
It is usually generated on the server where the certificate will be installed and contains information that will be included in the certificate such as the organization name, common name (domain name), locality, and country

Network solutions says

If you are hosting your own website, or using another hosting provider, you must contact your Web hosting Network Administrator and ask them to:

Generate a CSR for you
Identify the software platform and version of the Web server.

Where do i generate the CSR to get the gateway working again
