VMWare lost network connection
Today when I opened VMWare Workstation 12, I got a message about an update. I tried to install it, but it failed. The second time it failed again. I restarted and tried again, and for the third time it failed, so after closing and reopening VMWare I clicked the Remind me later link. But when I opened a VM, it had no Internet connectivity, and I got a message:
Could not connect 'Ethernet.0' to virtual network 'VMnet8'.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem?

Download new installer from vmware site, remove all stains of workstation that you have and reinstall new version.

I don't really care about the update -- is there any way to just fix the network connection?

You need to install vmware host system network drivers. They are lost during failed update. On the bright side - all VMs are stored in your user profile and will come back after proper reinstall.

The Repair feature fixed the problem.
