As i suspected MFP...there seems to be a <a href="http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/LASERJET-M1212NF-MFP-windows-server-2012-remote-print-not/td-p/4949862" rel="ugc">talk </a>on HP forums but is not conclusive...maybe it will help you maybe not...

I use an HP 1536 MFP and RDP to my office machine everyday and print with no issues. If you go to devices and printers on the local PC do you see the printer in the list?

The problem is that something you have to use a different driver and trick RDP into thinking you have another printer. Can be by way of sharing as Edward has mentioned. I've had to do this quite a bit. But what I would ideally advise is to create a second printer using the exact same port, and have that printer use the alternative driver that's RDP friendly, then you don't have to worry about functionality issues on your own PC.
