Where Can I purchase A Legitimate Office 2003 Professional Product For A Conversion Project?

Hello. I will be working on a project to convert old MS Access .mdb file databases created with Access 2003 to .accdb databases for Access 2016. I would like to have Access 2003 which comes with Office 2003 Professional so I can create sample .mdb databases to test for potential conversion problems and to make changes as needed to the 2003 .mdb files to make the conversions work.

Where can I buy a legitimate and trusted Office 2003 Pro product (preferably an ISO download to allow loading into a virtual machine easier)? I've seen some offers on amazon.com but see some complaints the provided serial numbers have already been used or activations have already been maxed out. I've also seen complaints that buying from e-bay is risky because you don't know if they are legitimate.

If you're a developer, you should have a subscription to Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN)  (I think they've renamed it Visual Studio Subscription or something) and you can download Office 2003 from there.

MSDN is about it.   A2003 has been out of mainstream sales for quite some time.

But depending on how many you have, I can convert to .accdb's for you if you want (no charge).   Just make sure they compile and do a compact and repair before you would send them along.

Also, I will sign a NDA if you need that.

Hello Lee.
I only have a subscription to Visual Studio Professional with MSDN which costs $1,199. That edition does not include general public desktop software like releases of Office.   Only the Enterprise edition which costs $5,999 comes with products like old MS Office releases.

If you're talking these kinds of projects it might be time to upgrade.

I do have spare unopened  Microsoft Office 2003 copy but I'm not sure If you going to be able activate it.

Microsoft has ended support for MS 2003 so I think activation is not going to work too

Look for Microsoft Office 2003 Professional at eBay.

There was no activation with 2003, only a CD product key.

I could at least read user reviews regarding the software

How could that influence your decision? As you need the package, there can't be anything to consider.

That's probably a good way to go....$40 is not much to risk.

But the offer still stands...I can get them into .accdb format for you if you get stuck.   And just to be clear,  I wouldn't be doing anything other then getting them into the .accdb format.  It would be up to you do to any conversion work required.  Once converted, you'd be able to read them with A2007 and up.

Also so your aware (and this should have been mention), A2010 is the last version that can read the .MDB format.   You don't need 2003 to convert these.

Thanks Jim for the offer to do the convert steps.

All client files must remain in the company environment of the client so that unfortunately disallows any activity causing the .mdb files to leave the company network or to be touched in any way from any resources they can not monitor. In my case I must use a virtual machine in their network which they monitor and they must approve any software I put in that virtual machine.

Hello Gustav.
When I mentioned I liked the reviews I was not really referring to what Office 2003 has to offer. I was referring to customer satisfaction using the particular vendor on Amazon I was making the purchase from.  In particular, I was looking for whether customers who purchased from the vendor received software in working order such as usable disks, product delivery on time, or serial numbers that worked.

Understood and not un-common, which is why I mentioned a NDA.

I chose the Amazon choice because I could at least read user reviews regarding the software I wanted. Also, the particular package I purchased at least had positive reviews based on the last few months. Some were not positive a few years ago but current reviews look promising.
