I own a HP Pavilion 17t-g100 CTO and the hard drive died. I replaced the hard drive and installed a copy of Windows 7 Pro in it only to find out none of the drivers I need for this laptop aren't in Windows base. Went to HP, no recovery discs for it, so I downloaded and burned individual drivers to a DVD which I was able to install from. HP doesn't have the USB controller driver on their web page and I need it desperately other wise I am stuck with that touch pad which is a pain. The keyboard I now find also doesn't work, can anyone help me out? Don't suggest going to HP's web page for support as they don't have what I need. Thanks.....

USB is built in and normally does not need drivers.
Make sure BIOS is up to date, and then download the Chipset driver (most people forget this). Install the Chipset driver and then reinstall the Video driver and restart.
Now if there are Mouse drivers (another thing forgotten), download these and install.
See it this fixes the issue.

Basically you need the chipset drivers for the USB drivers (and other devices) to work.
Thanks for your answers but I had installed the chipset from HP for the laptop......I need a USB controller driver as none of the usb ports on the laptop work. Driverscollection doesn't have that driver for Windows 7. The laptop came with Windows 7 Pro which I reinstalled, and it is 64bit....
Usually I just install the missing NIC driver and update rest from Microsoft Update via driver update process.
Have you tried this?

These are normally built-in. Did some other event occur when the hard drive died?

I did what you told me to do and even though the web site you gave me the link to didn't find the device number I put in, I then copied and pasted the number into Google search and it found the USB controller driver that I needed for the laptop, On the web page it found there were other links to HP drivers that I saved and burned to my DVD to use in the laptop. I now can use the USB ports on the laptop and a mouse, no more touch pad.......thank you for your answer and to be honest I never knew you could find out the device numbers the way you said to.
I want to thank all who tried to help me find the driver I was looking for and I did try all of your suggestions but none helped except for one. I do have to say that the Intel Utility scan didn't find any drivers other than the two that I had already installed, and I thank you for the link.
Also neither Windows nor Windows Update doesn't provide any HP drivers that I needed. Had they provided them Windows would have installed them from its search but didn't find any.
