Best practice question for multiple stack upgrade: vSphere, Linux OS, Oracle DB & WebLogic

I'm asking for high-level advice that might help me plan out an upgrade project. Basically, each of the components (shown above) should be brought up to their next major release. My best guess is to keep them in that sequence: VMware first, then Linux, etc. Subject of course to the certification matrix, to check which product versions are compatible.
