VMtools Issue

I'm running vSphere 6.5. I am trying to create a 2012 server using an ISO. When it boots to the ISO, I have no control. I have the box checked to check and upgrade vmtools before power up but I thought vmtools loads once the OS is up and running. So at a loss.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have to install VMware Tools, it's not automatic.

So the OS needs to be running, and you have to be logged in to the OS.

How are you connected to the console, using the host client, or vSphere Client ?

That is what I thought. I am using the web client.

Try using the vSphere Client (Legacy C#).

You've also got more than one option in the Host Client (Web), and that's to use Open browser Console, New Tab, New Windows, and also Launch Remote Console, these are all different, especially last option which uses the VMRC (which you need to download and install).

These should allow you to interact with the OS installation, and install. (later you can install Tools)

VMRC worked. New to the environment so didn't realize that was in the settings. Thanks.
