Hardware status and alerting for ESXi servers ?

People,

I'm running HP Proliant rack servers ranging from G5-G9 for all of my ESXi server 5.1 - 6.0, some of the servers reporting the broken local disk and also PowerSupply.

How do I get some hardware issue / alerting from the ESXi server ?

Thanks,

If you have the HP OEM versions of ESXi, and vCenter Server, some hardware alerts if triggered in vCenter Server, will alert you, otherwise you will need to use SNMP and HP Systems Insight Manager to monitor your environment.

So do you get Alerts in ESXi/vCenter Server ?

ASKER

hi Andrew, Where can I setup or enable the alert in Vcenter ?

Some of the ESXi server is installed by using the standard image not from the HP image. I assume I can just upgrade it to the latest edition by performing inline upgrade with no data / configuration lost.

OK, so my plan will be:

1. Apply firmware update on the server using HP SPP
2. install the latest HPE ESXi image manually through iLO on top of the current running ESXi server.
3. Configure the alarm definition Health status changed alarm

is that correct ?
Thanks Andrew
