Generic Microscope - connecting to Win 7

I have a generic (no brand) electronic microscope here from China.

While it might not be laboratory quality, its actually very good for intended purpose.

Connecting it direct to monitor via VGA port - the image appears almost immediately.

However, I want to connect it to a Win 7 system to take capture image files. How do I do this?

It has a VGA port and a "USB out" port.

I assume this should just work on the same principle as a webcam? Do I need to download a special application?

(BTW, when connected via USB it does seem to be recognised - no exclamation marks in device manager.)

Are you sure this is a microscope?

Ok just downloaded HoverCam Flexview software and video image was picked up.

I had to select "Scan" and selection "XGA" resolution for the still images to picked up.

But hey it works and it's doing exactly what I want it to do!

I was surprised that generic software could not detect it.

(and yes it does mention document camera but I bought it was an electronic microscope!)

Thanks to everyone.

Tahir's comment directed to the questioner to Devices and Printers where he identified the device.

dbrunton used that information to identify the device and find drivers for it.
