asked on

loud fans on Dell Precision R410

this server is very loud, I did some searches and pretty much owners of R410 complain it's loud
it's running a PERC 6/I
I found some admins had found a fix by updating BIOS and installing iDRAC
I tried updating my BIOS, Open Manager shows fans:
1A 5880 RPM
1B 4080 RPM
2A 6000 RPM
2B 4200 RPM
3A 5880 RPM
3B 4200 RPM
4A 7920 RPM <-
4B 5520 RPM <-
I tried installing Dell_Lifecycle_Controller_Integration_3.3.0_For Controller_Manager but I get error:
"The installation cannot continue. Make sure that the configuration manager administrator console is installed on the system"

please advise

If it's loud case fans or any fans have you checked them for dust> I find when either of my 3 case fans get loud it has a build up of dust
Or the fan over the heatsink. Video card fans.
Power supply Unit.
Dust can cause noise.
Start there.

Installation

Installation is the act of making a computer program program ready for execution. Because the process varies programs often come with a specialized program responsible for doing whatever is needed for their installation. Installation may be part of a larger software deployment process. Cross platform installer builders that produce installers for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux include InstallAnywhere, InstallBuilder and Install4J. Installers for Microsoft Windows include Windows Installer, InstallShield, and Wise Installation Studio; free installer-authoring tools include NSIS, IzPack, Clickteam, InnoSetup, InstallSimple and WiX. Mac OS X includes Installer, and also includes a separate software updating application.
