Try connecting the Printer with a static IP address and keep the computer on DHCP.

Try giving the printer a completely different name, then shut the printer down and restart it. See if the old hostname is again re-assigned
If you are using DHCP your scope to exclude a specific range and set the printer to a static IP in this excluded range.

When the problem happens, switch the printer off and then try PINGing its IP address. If there is still a response you have an IP conflict, and you should use Shaun's advice to make sure the printer's address cannot be used for DHCP.
