I've scoured documentation and forums for a couple of hours now...I have an old gmail account that I can't access. I was able to provide the codes provided by the account recovery process, but I created this email over 10 years ago and have no idea the month/year. Does anyone know how to get around that question? I tried skipping it and google still says that they can't verify that it's me. I also can't find an email/chat/phone number to get an actual customer support response. Pretty frustrated. Please help me!!

What happens when you try selecting a date you think it was that you created it? I've selected a date before when trying to solve a problem I had similar to yours and it worked.

It tells me that it can't verify that the account is mine, even after entering the codes.

Unfortunately if you have not registered a secret question which you remember, or an alternate recovery email address or phone number to which you have access to receive a reset code, you cannot prove that you are the account's legitimate owner. Hence account recovery is absolutely impossible and there is no way around it.
I entered recovery codes from both a cell phone and an alternate email. I don't understand why I can't access my account! I have a youtube channel tied to it as well that I would like to edit.
Is it possible your original email you set up the account with was from a work email you no longer use? or some other account you forgot about? Are you able to recover the youtube account instead?

My recovery email was set to a current email that I have access to- they sent me an email with a code which I entered.
When I try to reset the YouTube account it took me through the same process since it's all connected to Google
