Migrationwiz claims they can handle free/busy coexistence - but how?

I am migrating onprem exchange 2010 to O365 using migrationwiz.

The customer wants to migrate mailboxes in batches over a period of time. Im wondering how to handle free/busy sharing across mailboxes migrated and mailboxes not migrated.

Migrationwiz / Bittitan claims to have the solution to that, but I cant find any information how?

I have used MigrationWiz to migrate 6000 users from hosted Exchange on-prem but honestly didn't came to the free Busy part yet although the project is still going but still the part where Free busy is needed didn't arrive yet.

Here you can find info about it

I just wanted to check, have you talked to their support team? They can give you best advice on this.

Additionally, I would suggest you to migrate few mailboxes just for testing purpose. There are 3 types of migrations:

Cutover

Staged

Hybrid

Hybrid configuration only supports Free/Busy and also used for long term co-existence.

For migration follow Microsoft Exchange Server Deployment Assistant just answer few question about your environment and get step-wise checklist. There are few other migration solutions are also available Lepide Exchange Migrator and CodeTwo Migration.

You can get more help from below links:

I just had a chat session with migrationwiz support. They say that free/Busy coexistence is handled outside Migrationwiz. Its Microsoft Hybrid setup.

And they send me this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2555008/how-to-troubleshoot-free-busy-issues-in-a-hybrid-deployment-of-on-premises-exchange-server-and-exchange-online-in-office-365
That's funny considering they are advertising it on their main page as if it's they are handling the free busy scenario .. If it's a MS hybrid then you don't basically need BitTitan! Why are you using their service not Exchange Hybrid instead?
Totally agree Mohammed. Thats funny.

The reson for using Bittitan in this scenario is that AdConnect has been run long ago and users have been licensed just for the purpuse of downloading and installing the Office 365 software suite. When applying licenses in O365 users will get a mailbox in Exchange Online.

Now when the customer wants to migrate from their Exchange 2010 we cannot move mailboxes in the Microsoft Hybrid manner because there is a mailbox in both source and destination for the same users.
You can configure ADSYNC rules to sync users without their Exchange Mailbox GUID attribute so the user would be syncing to Office 365 as if he doesn't have any Mailbox on-premises.. I have done that successfully many times. :)

Here's how I configured UPN rules to match their mail addresses but you will need to edit rule number 108 as a copy and set its precedence to a different number 80 or 90

then set Exchange msExchMailboxGuid attribute in (Transformations) to flow type Expression and the source to NULL

Yes I know about the Adsync rules and have done a sync wheere msExchMailboxGuid wa set to NULL but the problem is that users for long ago was synced and licensed and therefore has mailboxes in the cloud.
So users have mailboxes on-Prem and On office 365 and you want to merge their mailboxes from ON-prem to Office 365? I don't understand how are you doing this migration :/
All users have mailboxes both places. They are using their onprem mailboxes. 365 mailboxes are empty. They want to move to O365.

Since I cannot do a Hybrid mailbox move I have to use Migrationwiz.
If users mailboxes are empty on Office 365 then why don't you just disable their license, Sync the users with AD again then assign license and do a hybrid migration :) since Free/Busy works only with the Hybrid version ?
