There are many ways to get data from Oracle into an external file. &nbsp;UTL_FILE is one. &nbsp;Spooling with sqlplus is another.<br />

Getting data from a file into Oracle, I suggest sql*Loader or External Tables. &nbsp;UTL_FILE can be used as well but it would probably be my last choice.<br />
<br />
There are MANY examples of all of these options out there. &nbsp;If you can post more about exactly what you are trying to do, we can probably post tested code.

I would suggest sqlplus and the SPOOL command to get data with column headers into a txt file. &nbsp;Then you can open the output with whatever program you want.<br />

If you still want to use UTL_FILE, you can but you need to write the headers out yourself.<br />

How can track error data while copeing data from external file to database using utl_file.
