Server 2012 R2 Hyper
I have 2 new Dell R630 servers that I will be running Hyper-v on. I have an accounting system that I will be running on a server 2012 R2 VM. I plan to use replication so the server is replicated to the backup R630. I would also like to use NIC Teaming to connect the VM to 2 separate physical switches for fault tolerance. My question is how should I configure the virtual network. Should I enable NIC teaming and team the NICs on the host server first then create the virtual switch? Also should I create the same configuration on the backup server or will replication recreate the virtual switch when it replicates? I just need to know best practices.

I really want to keep the traffic separate for each VM. I only want to team the NICs for my accounting server. I can create a switch for each VM and bind those switches to a port on one of my NIC's correct?

I've created the switch but when I go to Virtual Switch Manager I don't see the team. The 2 ports I used to create the team are gone but all I see is Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver. Is that the team?
Yes that is the team.
Oh about seperating the traffic, Yes you can add more vswitches and have the vms communicate over seperate ip ranges or over seperated vlans.

One last question I hope. Where do I set the IP address. I don't want to use DHCP for the VMs. Do I set it on the host NICs, the Team, the switch or on the VM network adapter?
For the vm in the vm os, if you had an ip adress on the host before teaming Chances are big the team tookover this ip config.

In additional properties Load balancing mode: field I have the option for Dynamic or Hyper-v. Dynamic is the default. Should I leave it at dynamic?
Yes, dynamic is the best choice.

Thanks Patrick. That was a big help.
