HP Notebook - 15-ay196nr core i7- 7th generation 7500u cpu - Is 8 gb ddr4 ram good enough for hd video conversion

Hi,

I bought the HP Notebook - 15-ay196nr core i7- 7th generation 7500u cpu with 8 GB DDR 4 RAM.

Only after buying the laptop, I realized that the 8 GB DDR4 RAM is non-upgradable and I need to live with 8 GB DDR4 Laptop RAM.

My OS is Windows 10 64 bit.

Is 8 GB DDR4 RAM along with core i7 7th generation CPU good enough for HD video conversion?

The 8 GB DDR4 RAM is the bottleneck as I read after buying the laptop that RAM is non-upgradable.

Please provide your valuable suggestions.

Warm Regards,
Mr. Sriram. K

What type of HD video conversion?  Going from what type of video format to which other format?

For something like Handbrake in ripping DVDs to H264 it will be fine but your details might be different.

Hi, I am looking for video conversion from standard definition to MP4 HD or DIVX HD conversion. Will the 8 GB DDR4 RAM be a bottleneck. Also, will there be a lag while I play HD videos using VLC Media Player or PowerDVD Ultra player? Please revert for any questions. Regards, SRIRAM.

it should be fine for playing video's, but i afgree for conversion you may be better off with more ram
since you bought it - just test how it's behaving for conversion, yes?
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

Hi,

I would test the laptop as it is an core i7 laptop and I guess with 8 GB DDR4 RAM, rendering will be faster due to faster CPU, 4 GB integrated graphics card and 8 GB DDR4 RAM that has a higher frequency compared to DDR3 RAM. Thanks for your suggestions.
