Ongoing Excel 2013 Issues
The fund on this one hasn't stopped. The basic problem is that Excel gets to the point that all that can be done is save and close. You can switch cells but can't enter or change any data. The one time I did see it Task Manager said Excel was using 65% CPU constantly yet the users was able to save and close. Then re-open and life was good.
One user was bitching and moaning how he couldn't use any spreadsheet. Excel was virtually useless because the problem would happen so often. I got on his computer at lunch and here is what I found:
1) He had six spreadsheets and one Access database open all at the same time
2) One of those spreadsheets had 21 links to other external spreadsheets
Neither one of those two observations can be good can they?

ASKER
The links are to a cell on another, external spreadsheet

I can't see this being an issue.
What kind of links? If it is formulas like INDIRECT then it could cause some problems, but a modern computer should cope.
