I've been beating my head against a brick wall for 3 days, about to give up on it.
I'm attempting to install McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator in a Server 2008R2 environment, using MS SQL Express 2012 as the DB.
I *finally* got SQL installed, but now when I try to install ePO, when I get to the Database Information part of the install, I enter the database server (SERVER\SQLEXPRESS) and the default database name to create (ePO_SERVERNAME). Then I used Windows Authentication, correct domain, and the username/password for a service account to admin ePO. I then get the following error:
"Setup was unable to impersonate the user you specified.
For more information on this failure see the installer logs."
So I go into the installer logs, and see:
Current username: [DOMAIN\USERNAME]
Entered AccountcanLogon function.
Validating account DOMAIN\ServiceAccountName
success, token = ####
Logon failed with error code . Cannot connect to SQL Server.
Failed in StartImpersonation with error code .
Exiting function ValidateAccountAndSQL with return code: 1
In SQL Configuration manager, I have it setup so that under SQL Server Network Configuration > Protocols for SQLEXPRESS under "IP Addresses", IP1 is:
Active - Yes
Enabled - Yes
IP address - [DC/hosting server IP]
TCP Dynamic Ports - 0
TCP Port - [blank]
And "IP All" is:
TCP Dynamic Ports - #####
TCP Port - [the one ePO requested]
In SQL Server Management Studio, I added my service account to the Logins (DOMAIN\SQLEXPRESS > Security > Logins), and gave it dbcreator, public, sysadmin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTES:
* The server is part of a closed network... no outside internet access.
* Due to the nature of the system, I cannot copy/paste any logs (handjam only), so please be specific in what you're looking for when requesting logs.
* Due to the nature of the system, I cannot install 3rd party software.
