Lost FireFox Bookmarks

Not sure what happened, but yesterday, I clicked on Firefox and it opened without any bookmarks. I tried to restore, and refresh, but no good. The profile is in C:/users/rich/appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox/profiles. and there are 3 profiles there. I took one profile and copied it into the folder, No good. Uninstalled and reinstalled and still no good. I did a restore point, for 3 different dates, No Good. Good says that the book marks are in places.sqlite. This file is 10,240KB.
Computer is windows 7 Ultimate SP1 4 GB 64-bit OS in a workgroup

You would think one of your two responses would work, but NOOOO! I must have had over 300 bookmarks in that file. What gets me is that the file size is 10,240 KB. I have tried to copy it over, use import which can't find it, I downloaded DBbrowser for SQL Lite, no good can't see anything in the file.

Is there not a way of exporting that file into something like MS Access or MS Excell and then importing it back into Firefox? Really frustrated that I lost all those book marks. And yes I did try to go to a back up but it doesn't work either.

More ideas??? thanks in advance.

very frustrated IT tech!
Solution Found!
I did a search on my C: drive for *.json
selected a file called boomarks-2017-03-08_364 ...
Then opened bookmarks in firefox
imported ... browse for file
selected the one mentioned above
was prompted that this would overwrite present bookmarks > OK
All of them are back!
Thank guys for your input.
I might not have been following some directions due to my frustration.
Thanks again.
I'm glad I could help. Thanks.
