Raid hard drive

I got free hp proliant dl 380 g6 and it will be for my training how to set up VMware first I hope I can raid the hard drive
Should I do that before anything installed? And how to do that?

To set up the RAID press F8 at the prompt and it's pretty obvious, delete any current arrays if listed and create a new one. Alternatively you can download SmartStart CD from HP's web and use the Array Configuration Utility under MAintenance option on that.

For VMware I would download the HP version rather than use the generic one.

I would certainly set up RAID before doing anything else.  But others may have some advice along those lines.  The issue is that you may lose everything in the process of setting up the RAID.

Can u tell where to download vm for that hp server?
So I download into the flash drive and boot up the n hp server?
If you have a flash drive (either SD card or a USB stick) that's preferable to using local disks, that way the whole disks are usable for VMs. You still have to run the installer program on the server though which installs VMware onto your chosen media, what you download isn't a runable copy of ESXi.
