Local Users losing connection to Domain Controller

Last Modified: 2017-04-26
I have a server running on my local network (Windows Server 2012 R2).  It's running DNS, DHCP and AD DS.  I've recently been getting Security popups to enter my credentials in order to connect to the domain controller.  Upon putting my password in it still says "The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request.  Please try again later."   Because of this, I cannot connect to mapped shared drives, etc.

What troubleshooting steps should I take (either on the local client or the server)?

Thank you!
