IE 11 Popup Blocker Fails to stop "Are you sure you want to leave this page?" popup

Running IE11 on two Windows computers -- a 32-bit Windows 7 Professional desktop and a 64-bit Windows 7 notebook.  A website which I use frequently has recently made some "improvements".  Unfortunately, one of the changes is a popup which asks "Are you sure you want to leave this page" whenever I try to navigate among the pages of that site, or leave the site.  In Tools>Internet Options>Privacy, I have enabled Popup Blocker, set it to "High", and made sure that the site in question is not among the allowed popups.  This has not changed the popup behavior on either computer.  How can that popup be blocked?

that message is driven by JavaScript. therefore if you disable JS in IE, that message will be gone.

Thank you for your comment.  However, I don't want to disable Javascript, because it allows many useful features to function.  I just want to block that popup.

please try this:
in Internet explorer go to Internet Options > Privacy > select the tick mark of Turn on Pop-up blocker and select settings.
In Pop-up blocker settings window uncheck show notification bar when a pop-up is blocked.
Close, apply, OK.
