Move files to another machine

I'm getting ready (in the next couple of weeks) to move my file server from Hardware to Virtual. I'm going from a 2008 server to a 2012 server. I have to rebuild it and then copy the information to the new server.  Is there any way for me to copy the file structure along with the permissions to the new server?
Windows Server 2012
