Excel - conditional formatting with symbols

I have a sheet with dates in Column P and names in column A.
I want to add a Check mark to the names in cell column A     if   there is a date in column P
If there is no date in column P  then nothing happens to the names in column A.

Example:

column A                                     column P
Sue (check mark)                           4/1/17
Mike
Joe (check mark)                            3/15/17
