Windows 7 usb repair boot

I have an Atom POS box that won't load Windows. It cycles but never boots properly. It has no optical drive. Where can i get a USB boot medium that will be able to repair it?

Thanks. Rufus looks interesting. I do have a Win 7 installer, but just as a matter of interest, i seem to remember MS making Win 7 installation media available at some time, for the purposes of authentic reinstallation. Is that still the case?

What i'm asking is this: is it possible to download Win 7 (genuine) installation media?
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

Yes you can use the genuine .iso to create a bootable USB stick  see:

You can get the appropriate .iso here:

Ah - i see that's the old story: it looks like that won't work if you have not bought Windows separately from the machine on which it's installed - am i right?

Actually, you can use any matching key (home, pro etc.) to download an installation disk.  There is nothing about the downloaded .iso related to the key other than the version.  Of course licensing legality requires you use the correct key for the machine at installation time.  Having the .iso is valuable for for other purposes too, like windows repair or testing if you can get windows to boot up and in that case the key or version does not matter for Windows 7.

If the PC does not have a Windows sticker or the key is unreadable, you can make a backup drive first, then get the old Windows key using a keyfinder like magical jelly bean.   If the PC had an OEM version of windows, most will provide a DVD or .ISO and the appropriate key from their support site.

My experience shows otherwise unfortunately - it refused to download, basically telling me to go speak to my OEM

Sorry, I should have said any matching microsoft key.  For OEM keys you do in fact have to go to the OEM (Dell, HP, etc.).   What OEM is it?  I may have a link stashed around here somewhere.

Thanks. The fact that you can't recover an OS that you've paid for (even if the cost was hidden) without paying again, with a separate medium really sucks. I'm just glad that i stopped using Windows on my own machines years ago.

I believe it's pretty much just a shipping fee for the DVD.
