Microsoft Qualifications

Hi,

I did my Microsoft qualification back in 2000 and just recently my employer has given me some training budget so I was looking into maybe doing the latest but confused as to what the options are, I see there is MCSE but it looks like a lot of the exams are being retired so is this not work doing?

What do people recommend? I do a lot of Office 365 and see there are exams for this and also Server 2016.

I have been in It since 1995 and work as a 3rd line IT general support engineer so get my hands dirty on lots of It areas.

thanks
Julian

Yes there is no upgrade path from MCSE 2000 to Windows 2012 or Windows 2016. Since you have been in IT for so long, I would suggest that you go for Windows 2012/2016 MCSE in Productivity  (This will take through the process of getting MCSA : Office 365)

If you want to start with Windows 2012 you will need to take three exams (70-410, 70-411, 70-412) will get you a MCSA 2012. From that point, you can branch off and go several ways to get a MCSE in your desired path.

today's MCSE is no longer the same meaning as that of 1995. your early MCSE stands for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, today's MCSE reads Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. It spent 20 years to develop from an engineer to an expert. :)
