Smartermail (v15.5) and port 80

Smartermail works perfectly on port 9998, but I'd like it to respond on port 80. Currently, no joy.

When I first set it up, port 80 gave me a "404 not found" error. Digging around (Netstat -nao etc) revealed it was "System" (PID 4) that was listening on port 80. I found out how to disable this. Now System is not listening on port 80. Nor is anything else.

Is there any way to get port 80 requests to Smartmail?

NOTE this is

- Server 2008
- IIS is NOT running on the server. (Only Smartermail and Sql Svr.) It *was* running 3CX v.12 with its own Abyss webserver app but that's now disabled.

Cheers.

You are on the right track. SmarterMail will bind just fine to any port (80 or otherwise) as long as nothing else is bound to it.  Port 80 may not be released, what do the SM logs say? A reboot may be necessary to release the port.

I assume you also opened up port 80 in the firewall?

Ah, you're a step ahead of me. I wanted to find out HOW to get it to listen on port 80.

Since posting, I've found the "STWebConfig" tool - that will let me CHANGE It from 9998 to 80, I was hoping it would listen on both. But if I can't have both, I'll try swapping it to 80 then, as you say, check firewall etc., if it's not working ok.

Cheers.
