Log off idle users woes

Spent 3 days trying to set something up to log off idle users from workstations via GPO-Task Scheduler to no avail.  Downloaded (autologoff and other programs) and shutdown -l which seem to work if the session is active, but if we use "switch user" and the session isn't the current session any longer, it won't log off the user. Must work with a standard user account. Any ideas?

Disabling the Switch User is not an option in this case.
