Exchange Cluster Requirements

Hey Guys,

We have a request to migrate to an inhouse clustered Exchange setup on vmware.

What are the requirements i need? Right now i have dual ESX hosts (with vmotion), and a SAN.

Thanks.

Wow adam, thanks! Which load balancer do you recommend? For the file share witness, should i use a physical server?
Kemps are fairly good and inexpensive, with templates for Exchange that work well. If you don't have other VM hosts besides the ESX hosts you mention, then yes, use a physical server. If you have other VM hosts, you can use a VM on those or physical.

Thanks so much Adam, I'll do that. I'll go with a barracuda load balancer.

Not to go too much office topic, but would migrating from sbs 2011 to an exchange 2016 dag be a big challenge?
It's not a huge challenge, but there are some things you need to be aware of (SBS is a special kind of annoying). There's a really good step-by-step guide here on EE that goes over the process of migrating from SBS to Windows Server Standard. The focus of the article is on moving to Server 2012 and Exchange 2010/2013, but the steps are pretty much still the same.

Adam, do you have a link to that?
