Oracle 11gR2 Middleware: multiple domains with individual admin servers?

I've inherited someone's undocumented setup, and I'm a first-timer who is learning OTJ.  Weblogic version is 10.3.2; the services are Forms and Reports. My startup sequence, at a high level, is to fire up three admin servers (startWebLogic), then three node managers (startNodeManager), followed by numerous user projects (startMangedWebLogic). Lastly, I start my oid and fr instances with opmnctl.

I've become a little familiar with the startup sequence, why Admin has to load before the managed services. Yea. My goal is to understand why there are three admin servers and three node managers (set up by persons before me, long since gone). The domains are for OID, OAM, and FR (forms).

Please help me understand whether this arrangement is healthy and if not, how to improve on it.  TIA.

Thanks Kent, there's a saying from my ethnic heritage that "a ship upon the shore is a lighthouse to those at sea". I'm lobbying for a VM sandbox, er, DR test system, where I can do a BMR and play.

Any corrections to my order of startup? All of the admin servers, then all of the node managers, then all of the managed servers? The scripting is important for the host server reboots -- the processes run 20-30 minutes start to finish.

There are no other outside users, and I control the domains, etc.
Ping to the question, "any corrections...."
Would have benefitted from the follow-up, but I know what it's like to bet distracted. Thanks again.
