Stuck in ALOM

I was given a Sun Processor V210, ALOM 1.5.4. I am stuck in ALOM and was not given the admin password and have no way of getting it. Is there a way to reset it without using the root login and password? The only thing that it will let me do is login and password.

You can reset the ALOM password from within Solaris. But you probably don't have the root password either or the machine doesn't boot into solaris?

No, I do not have the root password and the machine doesn't boot into Solaris.
The only way that is known to work for sure is to reinstall the server with a fresh copy of Solaris. Then you can reset de ALOM password with the solaris "scadm" command.

This requires that you have physical access to the machine and connect to the serial port directly for console access. And of course a Solaris 10 (sparc) DVD.
The processor does not have a disk drive for me to do it that way. Is there a way to get the Ethernet address while basically being locked out?
You're thinking of doing an install over the network (net install)?

If you have the skills to do that, it could work. If you connect to the serial console and from the prompt you can do a

boot net -v

This will show you the MAC address you need.

I'm not going to explain how to set up a boot server, but I found an article from somebody who did this before:

https://www.arm-blog.com/installing-solaris-10-on-a-sunfire-v210-via-network/
I haven't been able to get a prompt at all other than it saying to login after power up. How can I safely remove power using a command without a prompt? If I can get it to at least give me an ok prompt I would be able to fix it.
On the serial console, issue a CTRL+BREAK. This should get you into the prompt.
When I would do that it would just finish its initial test and then say sent request to host.
I don't think I can help because I'm not seeing what you're doing and what is exactly happening. Limitation of EE.
Been ages since I have worked on a V210 but if I remember correctly from old notes I have:

Note, this has to be done from the console:

1.  power down
remove power cords for several seconds

2.  press esc key during alom boot when this is on screen:
Boot Sector FLASH CRC Test
Boot Sector FLASH CRC Test, PASSED.
Return to Boot Monitor for Handshake

After esc key is pressed you get the ALOM Menu

3.  Enter e to erase the ALOM NVRAM
4.  Enter r to return to ALOM boot process

Hope this works.
Great, thank you. the next one I get that has this problem I will give this a shot. thank you.
