incrementing rows containing a string and number by 1 in excel.
I'm using excel 2016
If I have a column like this:
EmployeeID
1
2
If a Select the cell for the number 2 and then I select Fill, then Series and then set Step value 1.
I chose Rows, Linear
When I selected 2 I selected the 3 rows below it and then when I click OK i get this.
That's what want.
EmployeeID
1
2
3
4
5
Now what happens if there i string with a number at the end.
For example i have a column called TestColumn and it looks like this:
TestColumn
testingstring-1
testingstring-2
How do I do the Series so that the number at the end gets incrementing by one?
So my result should look like this:
TestColumn
testingstring-1
testingstring-2
testingstring-3
testingstring-4
testingstring-5
