Access network shares from SharePoint

I have a hosted SharePoint Foundations site and I want to connect SharePoint to shares on my internal network.  Is this possible and if so how would I go about doing it?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can add links to file shares by adding a hyperlink. Not really sure what you are trying to do. Just show a link to the share or have data from the shares in SharePoint. Maybe a little more information would be helpful...

I have a number of forms and documents that my branch offices use on a regular basis.  I'm building an new file server on my network and instead of just adding the files to a SharePoint list I wanted to just link to the directories on my network?   That way I only have to maintain the files in one place and everyone can access them whether they are in the office or at a customers facility.  Anywhere they have internet access so they can access SharePoint.

Just noticed this is hosted SharePoint.  Accessing your internal network from an internet connection is usually not something that is allowed by companies. When it is allowed, it is complex to set up CORRECTLY. It can be done incorrectly easily, and a lot of companies do that, but not a good thing to do.

For a strictly internal network, you can add links to file shares and other locations by using a variety of methods in SharePoint. One good start is the Links web part.

Hope that helps...
