Urgent !I am connecting a cisco catalyst 3560 switch amber light on port

I am connecting a cable from a cisco catalyst 3560 switch to a Cisco SG200 Gigabit switch
The port on the catalyst is amber but blinking like there is traffic .
The port on the SG-200 is green
What gives ??
What is that catalyst port yellow ?
I do not know if the amber is normal no other port does this and it happens no matter where I plug the cable
Help !

Try manually configuring the speed and duplex setting.  Sometime the auto setting just does not auto negotiate.

How do i do this ?  I assume you are talking on the 3560?
How do I get into the switch ?
I inherited this and I thought I just plug a cable from the gigabit to a port on the legacy and go

There is another switch that's connected to the gigabit
is it possible that there is a circle where the switch a is connected to Gigabit and also connected to switch B so when I try to connect switch B to the Gigabit .. the port is blocked ?
Since you have another switch connected, Elango may be right.

The switch should have a management IP which you can either telnet or ssh in.  Hopefully you have the userID and password to login to the switch.

How do I find the management IP and the default password . It probably is the default userid /pw
You could probably do a port scan and see if there are any devices which responds on port 22 or 23.  Then you can try to login to those IP Addresses.  If the password was not changed it would probably be "Cisco" for both the user and password.
The logs on the switch should reveal why the LED is amber.  It's usually a duplex, STP or native VLAN mismatch.

I think it was because the switch was connected from another port and by plugging in the cable I would have created a loop . So Spanning tree blocked it
Chosen answer is incorrect.
