Even i tried all the possibilities for the authentication. Is there any other issues with legacy OS
XP to W7 should still work. Older OS may have an issue.
Are you certain you can use the W7 share from another machine, or from the W7 itself?

hi, are you trying to see with this solution:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then double-click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentCon trolSet\Co ntrol\Lsa
On the right side, double-click restrictanonymous.
Make sure that the value in the Value data box is set to 0, and then click OK.
Close Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

Its not working as windows xp need to connect windows 7 share
You did it at the W7 machine?
ASKER
Yes . But not working at all. Still asking the IPC$ credentials
Is the XP machine joined to the same domain as the Windows 7 computer, or is a domain even involved ? Have you tried entering credentials to see what happens ? You can enter any userID that is valid on the Windows 7 computer.
How are you trying to map to the share? If you are using the Net Use command, you can enter:
Net Use v: \\server\share /user:User_ID Password
This won't prompt for anything.
