Hotel Wifi Captive portal not appearing
Experts,
We have a sales rep that is in Hotels frequently. He travels with personal devices that are Apple products, as well as the company Dell Latitude laptop (Windows 7) that was just purchased in December. He can successfully connect to the Wifi but cannot get the captive portal to appear when launching a browser. His Apple products work just. He has complained about this for every hotel he stays at. Today I tried various things to get it to work all to no avail.
We made sure DNS setting were set to automatically acquire, we have disabled IPv6, and the IP Helper service. Also disabled Windows Firewall. We thought maybe he could access the portal directly by going to the gateway of the hotel router and it just wanted him to login to the router it seemed. We're at a loss as to what the problem is. Also we have Sophos End Point Protection but so does all the other reps and they never have problems.
Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated.

Besides Sophos, do you still have any other security software installed? You could try to disable the Sophos to see if it is the one blocking.
Once it is connected ,
Run the command prompt
type
and type
and if its still not working ,
Type IPCONFIG in the command prompt, note the IP address in Default gateway line, and type this into your browser and hit go
Run the command prompt
type
ipconfig /release
and type
ipconfig /renew

Do you have any settings that are static on the wireless card, like maybe DNS servers?
