Unable to clone a Live VM in vCenter 6.x

I need to clone a  live (production server) vm but  getting an error message.
error: reason = This operation is not supported with virtual disks in independent mode or raw disk mappings in physical compatibility mode

Yes it has 2 HDs  (1st is Persistent False and the 2nd Independent Persistent-RDM).
I need only the 1st  Drive ie. the Persistent  False.
How can I clone it (without shutting the VM).  Is there a work around.

Thanks for your prompt response DJ.
How do I remove and reattach the RDM on a Live Production VM?  Could you give me the steps please. Thanks.

Sorry i missed your point, you don't want to shutdown right.

I would suggest to use vmware coverter

Thanks Andrew.
Yes it is a  Physical LUN  with  6144 GB.     Compatibility Mode is  Physical mode (but greyed out).
How can I change the setting on a live environment?

You cannot change when a VM is powered up.

To make changes the VM will need to be off!

Thanks will try that.

Is there any steps available  to detach the RDM before the cloning  and    reattaching the  RDM after cloning.  Becoz we need a clone  only of HD1 and not the HD2 (RDM).
