Android SCH-I915 Update

How can I get my Verizon Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 upgraded to at least Kitkat? I see so many people who did it with the Wifi version, but I can't find anyway to do it with the Verizon LTE Tablet version (SCH-I915).

The issue I have is mine is the Verizon tablet version.  The boot loader is locked.  I need a way to unlock it
it says "Other phones, however–and some carriers–don’t allow you to unlock your bootloader the official way, which means you have to wait for developers to exploit a security vulnerability if you want to root and flash ROMs. If you have one of those phones, this guide will sadly not help you."

What I have learned so far from the community
You Can't Root/Custom/flash a Verizon tab, which has a locked bootloader, neither you can use odin to flash a stock rom or firmware.
these are carrier locked devices and only the company has their way around it. absolutely no support outside their service centers. I am sorry but they won't give it away. don't flash any other device rom, as the device is a CDMA and the other device is either a GSM or a Wifi only tab. the other big difference is the chipset which is completely different from other tab and will never work.
my advice don't take any risk here.

see, if you can access recovery and factory reset the device.

update:
the people somehow got the SCH-I705 bootloader unlocked (it has the same chipset just the screen size difference 10.1 and 7.0 inches)

Check this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2536364

some I915 users also flashed the I705 Rom, which resulted in a touchwiz error, I don't know what else issues they encountered. but it seems i915 could be rooted as well. as reported in that thread by a user. you should ask them as well, see all the options, then proceed with care.

The above is the info you want.

In short, do not waste your time. Get a new tablet with Android 6.0.1 and move forward as Verizon will not entertain you anyway.

Or

If you have time, try to download the Verizon update tool and see whether your tablet can be updated with new firmware.

I have 5 of these tablets.  Even if there is the slightest chance to get them updated, I would take it.  I checked out the links you provided but it doesn't look like they source their download for the firmware they are using.  Is there any tutorial videos?
You need to Install a tool from Verizon in your PC and connect the tablet via the bundled USB cable and run the tool to do an update of the software of your tablet.
Jackie, I already did that.  I'm on 4.1.2 which is jellybean.  I'm looking for a way to root and go higher.  Thats what I'm trying to find out in this thread.
Just an update... I got Cydia Impactor installed and ran that on the device.  It looks like it rooted.... I'm not sure where to go from here... I have SuperSU now.

Can you recommend another cheaper android tablet (eBay $50-$70) that I could root to the latest version and it's stable and still fast?
I personally don't trust eBay.

Your budget is on low end for new Android tablets from major brands.

I will recommend the above and it is within your budget of $70 but it is a refurbished item with only 90 days warranty and its screen size is only 8 inch.

I will not recommend you to buy new tablets from minor brands as it is unlikely that they will have resources for firmware updates. Also, please be noted that tablets are consumer goods and please expect you need to replace them every two to three years. Finally, I am against the idea of rooting any Android devices as you just open up back door of your devices to hackers.
