After cloning Exchange 2007 server- The external emails were coming through and all of sudden it stopped - Internal emails are working

Hi

We have VMware infrastructure and we use VSphere Client 5.5.0. We had problem with one of our data store and have to clone our exchange server and the cloning has been completed. The original VM is in the shutdown state.

As soon as I switched on the cloned VM (exchange server) I received external emails and now all of sudden it stopped processing external emails, but the internal email are working.

After cloning, the MAC address on the cloned VM was different from the original VM and the IP settings are same and if I ping the host name of the Exchange from my workstation it pings successfully.
No sure why the exchange server all of sudden stopped processing external emails. Our spam filtering system is hosted outside, not sure if all the emails are stuck or waiting in QUE for any reason.

There is a DHCP reservation for the Exchange IP address on our DHCP server. I checked the MAC address on this reservation and still it is on the Old MAC address. Here do I need to change it to the new MAC address on the IP for the cloned VM?

Will this cause any issue for processing all the incoming emails. Please help to troubleshoot this .
Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance.
