I have a distribution group which was created in the on premises Exchange and sync to Office 365 using AD Connect.
What is the best way to make sender see an auto-reply message when they email to this distribution group?
I have tried creating a transport rule but do not see that option.

The only option is to create a mailbox with a auto reply rule set that is a member of the distribution group.
You can try this article but you have to enable the OOO in remote domain

The DG is called TEST. I am creating a rule in a group member's Outlook 2016. I specify when the message arrives with TEST in the recipient address.
After I clicked NEXT, I do not an action option to display or reply with a message to the sender. Please see the attached.

The option to check is have this server reply with the specific message

Cannot use "this server reply with the specific message" because you will need to specify a TO address. In this case, the sender could be anyone in the company or outside the company.
The To address would be the Distribution groups email address. This would mean anyone that emailed the DL would get an auto reply generated by the mail account setup with the rule.

Ok, I will test this again. Specifying "when the message arrives with the DL name TEST in the recipient address" is okay?
