analyze malware in windows document
what tool can I use to manually open a malicious Microsoft word document to view what it is trying to call out to?
I know the file calls up .vbs scripts which will have the instructions for the malware. What is the best way I can look into this script on my windows 7 computer?

I would use VM player to create an Isolated windows 7 vm with no network access then open it within the VM.

Jason, what tool will i need to be able to view the vbs file?
Picture that I am just looking at a word document on my test VM.
What do I use to open it and then get to the vbs file?

I have not run into a word document that contained a VBS file in it. I'm assuming it's most likely a macro which can be viewed via clicking view then macros.
