Crystal does have a PDF export capability but it is possible the developers of the Sage application hid it from the users.<br />
If you don't see it as an option I suspect you can't do it.<br />

The Crystal export to PDF has the same issue so you will not gain anything by using the direct export.<br />

When using CR to create a pdf, you want to use the export function and NOT print the report to a pdf printer driver. Results will be different as printing to a pdf driver will not render the report as designed. This has always been an issue with Crystal. Crystal export to pdf generally works well.<br />
The issue is with Sage X3 and if it supports exporting reports rather than printing to a pdf driver.

The only workaround that I have been able to come up with, is to preview the report in Word and then save the Word doc as a pdf.

If you don't see it then the Sage application has hidden it and it isn't available.<br />

We did that in one viewing application I wrote because we couldn't hide the Excel export and didn't want users to be able to export to Excel so we provided it through other menus.<br />

Exporting Crystal Reports from within Sage X3

Crystal Reports is a business intelligence application from SAP SE. It is used to graphically design data connections and report layouts from a wide range of data sources including Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, SQL Server databases and Access databases, BusinessObjects Enterprise business views, and local file-system information. Report designers can place fields from these sources on the report design surface, and can also deploy them in custom formulas (using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax), which are then placed on the design surface. Crystal Reports also supports subreports, graphing, and a limited amount of GIS functionality.
