Exchange 2013 - Index Merge logs

I noticed a large folder on my DB volumes with large .DAT files. Can these be cleaned out or deleted?

LOL, I actually read that. Any idea of what these files do and how they clear up? More curiosity at this point.
Patrick Bogers

Hi

They are used for searches e.g. outlook in online mode, mobile devices and while running ediscovery.
To bad there is no simple delete my temp garbage option in exchange.

Cheers

I am facing same kind of CI folder growth issue. Would like to understand what exactly is happening in the backend and would like to know about content merge
